If you need to hire haulage vehicles in East London, you’ll need drivers with what’s known as DVS (Direct Vision Standard) certification.
This is a new requirement which was introduced in October 2020 is for lorry drivers who are handling vehicles over 12 tonnes in grosse weight.
This initiative from Transport For London (TFL) is designed to improve the safety of vulnerable road users on the streets of the capital. Eventually, it’s hoped it will reduce the number of road deaths and serious injuries, helping the Government to meet its road safety targets by 2041.
This requirement is only concerned with vehicles used inside the M25. However, if a vehicle is not DVS compliant then you could be liable to a £500 fine.
