DVS (Direct Vision Standard) is a requirement for lorry drivers who are handling vehicles over 12 tonnes in grosse weight.
This initiative from Transport For London (TFL) has been designed to improve the safety of vulnerable road users on the streets of London with the hope of eliminating all road deaths and serious injuries by 2041. It came into force relatively recently, in October of 2020.
The requirement is mainly concerned with the design of the vehicle, and it’s only concerned with vehicles used inside the M25. If a vehicle is not DVS compliant then you could be liable to a £500 fine.
